Istanbul is a city that despite its geographical location issues, has been quickly catching up with the rest of Europe regarding art and culture. Proof of this are the many cultural places poping up recently. Like for instance BAS, a public archive for artists’ books, run by artist Banu Cennetoğlu, who also founded the first publishing house dedicated to this form, in Turkey — Bent. This space stands out as a necessary structure to sustain this form of art, which the artist herself is dedicated to produce.
