Now that the Greek Festival is over, I have more free time to complete the rewards for my Kickstarter project! This post contains the last of the blog thank you’s for everyone who donated to the zine project and wanted me to post a link online. Thanks to the following people who made it happen: Tanya Langford, Rene Cruz, Christine West, Frank Netscher, Leigh Ward, Robert Boyd, Emily Link, Caroline Docwra, Huan Le and Stacy Buddington.
Tanya is an artist currently living and working in Houston, although she was born in New York. Her work is inspired by ancient tribal languages, written text, symbols, ideograms and textiles from many countries around the world. Take a look at her Transform Collection here.
Rene leads a dual life of artist and designer, and is skilled in areas of web development and print media. He makes awesome zines, which you can see on his Flickr page.
Christine is the Executive Director of Lawndale Art Center located on Main Street in the Museum District. Her husband, Ramon West, started a musical project called Anonymous Somewhere, which attempts to explore emotional themes and to stimulate visual imagery while maintaining a memorable melody and song structure.
Frank is a physics major at UT in Austin, but he also does improv and enjoys the arts, which is why he supports this zine, I’m guessing. Don’t let his height fool you because he is really nice and a vegetarian. He likes Jon Hamm a lot as you can see from this link he sent me.
Leigh is helping promote CyPhaCon, which is Southwest Louisiana’s original premiere anime, gaming and sci-fi convention, taking place April 13-15th, 2012.
Robert is an avid lover of art who lives in Houston and blogs about it online at The Great God Pan Is Dead. He is co-curating a group show at Philomena Gabriel Contemporary called Pan y Circos which opens this month on October 21st from 6-9pm.
Not only is Emily the Community Relations Coordinator at Lawndale Art Center, but she also exhibits work around Houston as well. She currently has some work on display at Box 13 ArtSpace, where her studio is located. The show, called False Face High, will run through November 5, 2011.
Caroline works at the Houston Center for Photography as the Programs Assistant and is a graduate from the University of Houston. We share a mutual liking of cats and photography. You can check out her own photos on her Flickr page here.
Huan currently lives in Houston and reviews local restaurants on his blog called Houston Restaurant Reviews. He is also interested in Houston street art.
Stacy B. and her friend Celeste Madrid created their own clothing line called Threads of Hemp Clothiers, which is a line of handmade, organic baby and kidswear. They participated in Austin Fashion Week this year and received a lot of press on their line. Check out their Facebook page for more information here.
